|
Tockus flavirostris Other Names
World: NE Africa in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya Kenya: Found mainly below 1400m in dry and semi-arid areas. Mostly absent from the moister highlands and coastal regions Although widespread throughtout northern and eastern Kenya this is a fairly uncommon hornbill. We have noticed that it is particularly common around the escarpments of Samburu Game Reserve, except in very dry spells when it moves down from the hills closer to the river. It is often found associated with the Dwarf Mongoose, taking advantage of the insects that the groups disturb when they forage |
