White-bellied Bustard |
|
Eupodotis senegalensis Other Names
World: Africa from about 17°N to 17°S and East South Africa in suitable habitat. Kenya: Widespread but not particularly common in southern and central Kenya, scarce or absent in the dry North and East. Prefers grassland with some shrub cover, usually in pairs or family groups. Both male and female have the white belly but the female lacks the black facial markings of the male (above). Similar to Hartlaub's and the Black-bellied Bustard, the obvious difference is the white belly, which is unfortunately not always visible in long grass, but both male and female white-bellied have a blue-grey neck. |
