    French Merle cendré   German Brillendrossel         Italian Tordo occhinudi

World: From NE Tanzania, through eastern and northern Kenya to southern Somalia and c,s Ethiopia.

Kenya: East of the Rift Valley below 1600m.

This is a shy bird of dense scrub and thickets. It has a powerful bill which it uses to dig when foraging on the ground. It is similar to the Olive Thrush which is found at higher elevations but the bold back throat streaks clearly distinguish the two species.
