World: Africa: Ethiopia, se Sudan, western and central Kenya and ne Tanzania.

Kenya: Between 1800-4200m in the W and C Highlands.

This is a large highland sunbird which has elongated central tail feathers. It is a mixture of dark iridescent green (on the head and neck) and purple (on its back). This is a common sunbird in the Mt Kenya region and can be seen quite readily at Naro Moru.
