Spreo fischeri Other Names
World: NE Africa from NE Tanzania, through eastern areas of Kenya to SE Ethiopia and S Somalia. Kenya: Mostly occurs E of the Rift Valley in dry bush country. Found in small flocks feeding on the ground in mixed groups with buffalo-weavers and other starlings. However they are also seen on the backs of large grazers (zebra, buffalo or gazelle) where they adopt an almost Oxpecker type stance as they forage for insects. We have found Samburu to be a very good place to see and photograph them. |
