Serinus striolatus Other Names
World: Africa in Zaire, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Kenya: Central Kenya and South-Western Kenya outside the Lake Victoria basin. A common bird of the highlands, found above 1300m in gardens and cultivated areas, woodland edges, heath and scrub. Usually found in pairs or small family groups. It's distinguished from the similar Stripe-breasted and Streaky-headed Seedeaters by the pale side of the face and dark malar stripe. The bird above was photographed at Thompson's Falls. |
