Kenya: Passage migrant December to May in dense waterside vegetation. Particularly common around Lake Victoria and the Rit Valley lakes.

Predominantly insectivorous although also eats plant material outside the breeding season. Feeds low down in dense vegetation picking its prey from leaves and stems as it forages. Will also take insects from the air as it moves between perches. It is mostly active just after dawn and just prior to dusk. Can occur in small loosely associated groups, although outside the breeding season it tends to be solitary.
