World: Africa from south-western Mauretania, Senegal and Gambia East to Somalia, and Ethiopia and South to South Africa; south-eastern Iraq. Kenya: Common in and around wet habitats except in the North-West and North-East of the country. One of Kenya's common Ibises breeding regularly at Garsen and Lake Turkana and occasionally at a number of other locations, Normally feeds on wetlands but often scavenges for food around human habitation. Quite distinct from Kenya's other Ibises and easily recognised in flight by the white wings with a black fringe all the way around. |
