World: Africa: Found in the E from S Somalia, Ethiopia, S Sudan through NE Uganda an Kenya to the NE border regions in Tanzania. Kenya: Found in the more arid regions on bare sandy soil in open bush and wooded areas (particularly dry Acacia and Commiphora scrub). Found single or in pairs foraging on the ground for seeds and insects. When disturbed it flies to an elevated, generally exposed, perch (tree branch or top of a bush), these are also its favoured perches when singing. Although similar in build and habit to the Fawn-coloured Lark it lacks the broad white supercilliary stripe and is altogether paler with a noticeably grey crown. |
