World: African species confined to NE Uganda, S Sudan, C,S Ethiopia and NW Kenya.

Kenya: Confined to the North West of the country reaching only as far S as the Baringo region..

A small Hornbill which is very similar to Von der Decken's Hornbill however Jackson's Hornbill has white spots on the wing coverts. The picture above shows a pair of birds pictured at Lake Baringo, the female (with the black bill) is to the right. Some authorities believe that Jackson's and Von der Decken's are conspecific.
