Lanius dorsalis Other Names
World: North-eastern Africa from NE Tanzania, Kenya and eastern Uganda and north to southern Sudan, s Ethiopia and s Somalia. Kenya: Common in dry open bush, absent from the wetter regions of the West and also from the Highlands. This is a short-tailed, solitary shrike of dry country. It perches conspicuously on bushes and low trees. It can be distinguished from the Long-tailed Fiscal by the presence of white tail edges, white border to the grey back patch and by its shorter tail. The similar Common Fiscal has a black rather than grey back. |
