English Cape Wigeon, African Cape Teal, Pink-billed Duck, Pink-billed Teal   French Sarcelle du Cap, Canard du Cap   German Fahlente   Spanish Cerceta de El Cabo   Swedish Kapand   Dutch Kaapse Taling, Kaapse Eend   Italian Alzavola del Capo

World: Africa from Niger, Chad, Sudan and Ethiopia, South to South Africa and further North to Namibia and Angola

Kenya: Restricted to the Rift Valley, mostly preferring alkaline Lakes. Occasional wanderers as far West as the Lake Victoria area and as far East as Tsavo

Although rare outside the Rift valley, it is common on the alkaline Rift Valley Lakes sometimes occurring in large numbers but more usually seen in pairs or small groups. At first glance it can seem similar to the Red-billed Teal, but the Cape Teal has a pink rather than red bill and lacks the dark cap and white cheeks
