World: North-eastern Africa from southern Ethiopia and the south-western border areas of Somalia, through Kenya to NE Tanzania.

Kenya: Occurs to the E of the Rift Valley in dry, open savannah, brush and wooded habitats.

A gregarious ground-feeder which nests colonially in Acacia trees in large, untidy cone-shaped nests attached to slender twigs. The picture above was taken in Tsavo West NP in January 2001.
